Unprecedented Achievements at the Summer Olympics

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro witnessed an astounding feat as athletes shattered a remarkable 27 world records and 91 Olympic records. These records were set across various disciplines, including archery, athletics, canoeing, and cycling track.

Archery

Archers showcased their unparalleled precision, as the women's team from South Korea set a new world record in the ranking round with a score of 2,068 points. Individual archers also broke records, including An San of South Korea who achieved a score of 700 out of 720 in the women's individual ranking round.

Athletics

On the track and field, athletes pushed their limits and set numerous records. Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt cemented his legendary status by breaking the Olympic record in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 9.81 seconds. Similarly, Kendra Harrison of the United States set a new world record in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.20 seconds.

Canoeing

Canoeists and kayakers also made history in Rio. The German duo of Marcus Gross and Max Hoff set a new world record in the men's canoe sprint C-2 1000 meters with a time of 3:43.434.

Cycling Track

The Velodrome witnessed exceptional performances, as the British team set a new world record in the men's team sprint with a time of 42.440 seconds. The French team also broke the world record in the women's team pursuit, setting a time of 4:10.236.
